When dreams turn into reality, some may begin to slow down the passion to continue to succeed. The urge to continue to break out and stand tall turns into fulfilment and satisfaction. However, the above statement will not wash for radio and television personality, Nana Kwadwo Addo of Media General.
He has learned to master the art of identifying opportunities and maximizing them to the utmost. In an interview with filanews.com, Nana Kwadwo Addo recalled how as a young guy his love for the media especially showbiz got him stocking every copy of graphic showbiz since 2004. He kept abreast with the top news which earned him the tag, showbiz information warehouse amongst his friends.
“I have been learning for a long time. I have been studying the landscape from 2003 and had to study the personalities involved. In 2004 I started buying every copy of Graphic showbiz every Thursday just to read and know about everything entertainment”
The media personality stated that he at a point switched to monitoring radio stations but realized that passion and interest was not all it takes to excel in the field he hoped to be a part of. He subsequently enrolled into the Ghana Institute Of Journalism in 2006. This was after he Nana Kwadwo Addo had failed two of his papers whiles writing his final year examinations. Nana Kwadwo noted that, failing his papers made him realize the need to take his studies seriously to compliment his dream of one day becoming a media colossal.
Back in Pope John Secondary School where Nana Kwadwo Addo had his education, he recalled how he use to mount most entertainment platforms with friends just to the excitement of even school authorities. It was all laugher when he recalled his music studio recordings sessions and how those songs never saw the light of day. “I trust in process and time. I don’t feel pressured but rather responsible for my career”
Nana Kwadwo Addo also added that diversity, dynamism and the ability to share with people his knowledge in the field of endeavor leaving a mark in the mind of people encountered along the journey of life keeps his going. Nana Kwadwo who doubles now as the Group Head for Events Entertainment and Lifestyle, encouraged everyone out there with a passion to also cultivate the will to sacrifice. “My work span is daily, it is full of pressure, managing people and personality and all that. TV and radio hosting is like a quarter of what I do and because I love it I still find myself in that space”.
Speaking on his leadership style of work, he added that keeping an opening mind and accepting various ideas from different personality to work makes it a bit easy. Picking up awards as the best male entertainer at the 2020 Radio and Television awards, after a decade of media work can only be proof that people are watching and appreciating his work.
Wrapping up the interview session Nana Kwadwo Addo advised persons in and hoping to get into the media space to continue to raise the standards and be professional at all times. I created the “PIT THEORY” which stands for passion, interest and training but first I recognized early what I wanted to do which is media work and studied both theory and practical”.
