A Brooklyn federal court has convicted singer, R.Kelly of sexually abusing and exploiting women while preying on children. The jurors deliberated for a little more than a day before voting to convict him during a 5-1/2-week trial.
The singer, whose full name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, is one of the most prominent people tried on sex charges as described by some industry players.
Kelly’s conviction has been hailed as an “important moment for accountability” in the #MeToo movement by the New York attorney general, Letitia James.
Kelly, 54, was found guilty on all nine counts after decades of avoiding criminal responsibility for numerous allegations of misconduct.
Drea Kelly, the ex-wife, who has three children with the R&B star, has previously spoken of being emotionally and physically abused by him. “I’ve always said if any of his victims were blonde and blue-eyed it wouldn’t have taken this long,” she said.
R. Kelly is an American singer, songwriter, record producer with world chat topping songs like “I Believe I can Fly”, “Gotham City”, “Ignition” If I could turn Back the Hands of Time”, “The World’s Greatest”etc.
