The Ministry Of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has assured the general public of well laid down procedures that make it difficult for persons other than Ghanaians to acquire the Ghanaian passport.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also indicted that the biometric passport goes through a lot of careful processes before being issued out to qualified persons.
The Ministry made these statement on the back of information it has received on Ghanaian passports being issued out to foreigners.
“The Ministry is investigating the said allegation and would take appropriate measures to deal with the situation if found to be true. It is worth emphazing that with the current biometric passports being issued by the passport office, applicants undergo rigorous vetting process which make it difficult for unqualified persons, notably foreigners to acquire Ghanaian passports”, the statement said
The statement further stated that it will continue to adopt relevant measures in the issuance of Ghanaian passport in order to uphold and protect the integrity of the travel document. The Ministry has however cautioned against unfounded claims on social media concerning foreigners acquiring Ghanaian passports.
