John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has embarked on a three-day campaign tour in the Upper West region as part of his presidential campaign. This follows successful tours in the North East and Savannah regions.
Before visiting the Upper West region, Mahama had already toured several regions, including the Upper East, Volta, Bono East, Bono, Ahafo, and some constituencies in the Greater Accra region ¹. His campaign focuses on key manifesto policies, such as:
- 24-Hour Economy Policy: promoting economic growth and development
- Women’s Development Bank: supporting women’s empowerment and economic independence
- The Big Push: Comprehensive Infrastructure Development Initiative
- National Apprenticeship Program: providing skills training and employment opportunities
- No Fee Stress for First-Year University Students: easing financial burdens on students
- Free Tertiary Education for Persons Living with Disabilities: promoting inclusive education
- Farmers Service Centre: enhancing agricultural support services
On day one of his Upper West region tour, Mahama’s itinerary includes:
- A courtesy call on the Chief of Wicheau and community engagement in Wa West Constituency
- Addressing a durbar of chiefs and people of Goripie in Wa East Constituency
- Community engagement at Daffiama in the Daffiama-Bussie-Issa constituency
- Addressing a durbar of chiefs and people of Nadowli in Nadowli-Kaleo Constituency
- Engaging with the people of the Charia community in Wa Central
- Community engagement at Kpongu in Wa Central
