King Promise wins Best Afropop/ Afrobeat Artiste of the Year to end VGMA drought

Finally, King Promise can heave a sigh of relief after winning his first award after losing out many times at the Ghana Music Awards in the last five years.

King Promise has always been a favorite contender but unfortunately, he has not been lucky to win any category nominated the “curse” has been broken when he picked the Best Afrobeat/Afro Pop Artiste of the Year award.

Born Gregory Bortey Promise Newman, King Promise is known for songs such as ’10 Toes’, ‘CCTV’, ‘Tokyo’, ‘Ginger’, ‘Put on You’, ‘Chale’ and ‘Dabedi’.

Apart from King Promise, other winners on the night are Black Sherif, Piesie Esther, Niella, Perez Musik, Stonebwoy, Camidoh, and Nigeria’s Asake.

This year’s VGMA was held at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre.
