The incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Sekyere Afram Plains Alex Adomako-Mensah has been defeated in the National Democratic Congress(NDC) parliamentary primaries.

His nephew Dr. Duffuor Jnr lost the opportunity to lead the party after he was also beaten by a lesser-known Hajia Nasira.

Hajia Nasira polled 211 votes while Alex Adomako-Mensah had 86 votes, Dr Duffuor 203, Dr Ereadrd Brenyah 65 and 3 rejected votes.

Earlier Dr Duffuor Jnr had promised to beat the uncle in the contest but it ended up in defeat for both who are related by blood.

The presence of his father Dr Duffuor Snr who was in the run for the flagbearership race and only dropped out at the last minute could not even convince the delegate.

Reports suggest delegates were promised several incentives including money to vote in the direction of the Duffuors but that did not work out.

The Sekyere Afram Plains was a hot spot in the primaries.
